When you first schedule your initial consultation, we may ask you to have some x-rays taken prior to your appointment. These x-rays are specific ones used by orthodontists to assess your teeth, bite and jaws and are crucial to planning your treatment.

At your first visit you will meet with Dr Shelley Coburn and will have the opportunity to discuss what concerns you have with your child’s or your own teeth. If x-rays have been taken, we will explain and discuss these with you. A through clinical examination and orthodontic assessment will be carried out and any orthodontic issues will be carefully explained to you. If treatment is required, you will be given the available treatment options and provided with written quotes. Following your consultation, a detailed written report will also be sent to you.

The extent and cost of orthodontic treatment required varies widely depending on age, the severity of problem and the extent and type of treatment required. As there is no ‘one size fits all’ treatment plan, it is not possible to quote treatment fees before seeing you for a consultation.

If you have private health insurance, we will provide you with detailed quotes and the ‘item numbers’ that the various health funds require in order to advise you on what rebates you are entitled to.
